Trash the Dress, otherwise known as Drown the Gown!!!

Now you may remember from my previous post how I said that Monique and Ben were up for anything?  Well, they were!  Monique booked me to do a Trash the Dress session the day following their wedding day.  A Trash the Dress session is a bit of an phenomenon gaining momentum over here where brides get all dressed up again the day after the wedding and go to a location where you would normally never dare to take a wedding dress!  Often, these sessions involve water. :)   Ha ha!!!  Hee hee!!  (cue gleeful slightly mad laughter)

A selection of our TTD session for your viewing pleasure…

We’re getting closer to the water…

Our “From Here to Eternity” rip off was too funny to take seriously!

And, just in case you think I got off lightly, I’m sure you will all be pleased to know that I got caught by a high swell ….

Mmmm, nothing quite like the feel of wet jeans. Thanks Monique and Ben – it was a blast!

Monique and Ben – an elopement with a difference!

Monique and Ben are an Australian couple who decided to leap across the ditch and elope to Waiheke Island to tie the knot. This was NOT your typical elopement given that they both brought their families along too! They were a really fun couple to photograph, up for anything – these Aussies knew how to play and play hard!!!

Their 3 little boys were gorgeous and perfectly behaved on the day – such little cuties…

Monique got ready for the ceremony at the Onetangi Beach Apartments which I always enjoy shooting at – it’s got lots of interesting outdoor areas to use for the photos and is right across the road from Onetangi Beach.

Monique and Ben had their wedding ceremony and reception at Mudbrick Vineyard.

I especially enjoy this shot.  I love the sense of family chaos and the way that the boys are just playing around.

Ahhhh, a lovely sunset to end.  Stayed tuned for the TTD session in the next post (all will be revealed… :) )
