Out of the mouths of babes…
I was cleaning out some papers recently and came across an old drawing my lovely daughter had done for me a couple of years ago. At the time she was ‘helping me out’ by drawing some potential Bride and Groom poses to use on a wedding day.
Now, maybe she is using perspective here to show the bride in the foreground and the groom in the background, but I prefer to think that she has drawn a MASSIVE bride and an itsy-bitsy little groom to show their relative importance on the wedding day…

Yeah baby, it’s ALL about the bride… LOL!

Melissa and Paul’s Beautiful Cable Bay Wedding…
Melissa and Paul had a stunning Autumn day – it was actually so warm and lovely that when I arrived at The Sands where the men were getting ready the first sight that greeted me was a cluster of half naked men hanging out on the balcony (haaa, didn’t know I had seen you, did you Paul!!).

A(nother) magical Waiheke Island day. Guess who went on a fishing charter the day before the wedding…

One of Lance’s shots of the the boys… Classic.

I completely love this birds-eye view photo from Lance;
Melissa looked sublime in a gorgeous shimmering gown. Her hair and make up was created by Ashlee Kellett at Beautified. Her bridesmaids wore striking black dresses and carried blood red roses from the lovely Vicki at Wildflower Waiheke.

The girls have a wee bubble fight thanks to an over-enthusiastic dishwasher – I’m sure this was not what Melissa meant when she said to pop open the bubbly
Now, that’s more like it…

STUNNING!!

Cable Bay is such a fabulous venue! We hadn’t worked there for a wee while so it was GREAT to be back shooting at that gorgeous location.

If there were such an award in existence, Melissa and Paul would probably win the Most Moving Vows gong. They were honest and heartfelt, just lovely vows - there was not a dry eye in the house (including mine!). Being invited to witness and capture such honest and raw emotions is one of the great privileges of my job and one of the many many reasons I love being a wedding photographer!

We had time to capture some photos in the beautiful Cable Bay surrounds before darkness fell and we headed down to the cellar to continue the shoot.

Am loving the moon in these shots

Thanks Melissa and Paul for a wonderful, wonderful wedding day which we loved being part of. I knew the two of you would be fabulous fun and you were!
fingernails
Like most working mums I know, I have all my balls up in the air, juggling the kids and family life with the business and all the rest of it and I think I do an OK job of keeping everything in it’s place. But every now and then the lines blur and I catch myself pointing out something on an album page to one of my clients with the fingernails of a 7 year old.
