New Zealand Bride and Groom Magazine…

This Summer’s edition of NZ Bride and Groom has a few of our photos in it  – exciting!!  It showcases two of our Waiheke Island weddings in it’s ‘real weddings’ feature and also has one full page ad (which was my prize for winning the NZIPP Wedding Album of the Year award last year).

This is the first feature of Ingrid and Shaun’s wedding at The Estate in Church Bay…

Dena + Andrew elope from Vegas to little ol’ Waiheke!

It was with great pleasure that I witnessed the wedding ceremony of Dena and Andrew last week.  They said they decided to elope to Waiheke Island from their home in Las Vegas, because they wanted to combine their wedding day with an adventure!  Excellent idea.

Dena does a lot of musical theatre back home in Vegas and according to her lovely groom Andrew she is known for her flair for the dramatic… so, she decided to step it up a bit and end the wedding day with a drown the gown session and because she knew she was going to eventually get into the water, Dena was happy to pretty much take her dress anywhere which was fabulous for me as I could take them to a couple of locations that I otherwise would be inclined to avoid.

Waiheke is not really renown for it’s surf but we had a bit of wave action on their wedding day which turned out to be handy towards the end of our session … as you will see later!

I love the exuberance of the above photo – the whole ceremony was just lovely with a combination of their own vows, beautiful poems read by Waiheke celebrant Rosemareyn, an exchange of rings, and a ‘mixing of sand’ celebration.  Andrew and Dena were married on Onetangi Beach by the large pohutakawa tree on the eastern end.

Above:  Although you probably can’t see it from the size of this photo, the look on the surfers face is priceless – you can tell he’s right in the middle of a really loud ‘WooohoohoooHOOOOOOO’.  It’s classic!
Below: Andrew and Dena’s wedding tree. :)

Dena’s beautiful look was created by Cut & Curl in Oneroa (hair) and Charlotte Edwardes from Island Beauty (make up).  Flowers once again by Vicki Roycroft from Wildflower

We did a quick stop at a couple of slightly more off-beat locations before heading in to Oneroa beach for Dena to jump in the water!!

I have so much admiration for brides who get in the water, especially in Autumn!  Yes, OK, I also think they are a little crazy (in a good way) because it’s got to be a super hot day – with no wind- for me to jump into the ocean; I’m a total wuss like that!  So my beautiful autumn bride Dena scored some pretty big points in my book!

Fun!  Thanks Dena and Andrew for inviting me to bear witness your wonderful Waiheke wedding and all the very best for a fun and adventurous future together…  xx
