I was pretty excited about Frances and Richard’s wedding not only because I had met Frances a few years ago when she came along to kickboxing and knew she was a fabulous, fun, beautiful girl who would without doubt be having an awesome wedding… but also because it was to be held at the amazing Waikopu, an incredible venue here on Waiheke, exclusively represented by Jan from Waiheke Island Weddings and Events.
Now looking at the photo above and comparing it to the first image below you would be forgiven for thinking you were at a different wedding!! The day dawned with m.i.s.e.r.a.b.l.e weather that looked to be completely set in… but luckily for us, it turned out that it wasn’t!
Richard sorts out his brother’s tie before posing for me in front of the only sunny-paradise-island background I thought I was going to get on their wedding day.
yep, that’s rain!
Fran was happily ensconsed in an amazing home in Pah Road that used to be a church, appearing very philosophical about the rain and having a lovely time with her girls. They were being expertly tended to by Charlotte from Island Beauty (always amazing) and the very lovely and talented Amanda Sands who was busy creating a beautiful selection of plaits and curls. The girls amazing dresses were from Miss Crabb and looked so good all hanging alongside Fran’s stunning gown
I love the excitement on Frances’ face as she puts on her beautiful dress
Stunning flowers by Vicky from Wildflower
Growing up on Waiheke, Fran had spent a few summers working at Stonyridge and she arranged for she and Richard to have their ‘first look’ moment there… this made me a very very happy photographer because I adore the environment, and always luurve shooting at Stonyridge.
Following our time at Stonyridge, we did a little Waiheke Island tiki tour with photo stops along the way enroute to Waikopu
(love this cuddle shot!)
The beautiful flower arrangements on the tables are the handiwork of the wonderful Vicky from Wildflower and the gold sprayed tin cans the work of Fran’s dad
Fran was sneakily eavesdropping on the MCs as they welcomed the guests to the wedding just before the ceremony began.
Richard’s mum was their celebrant which was a really special touch.
I love this little moment above as Fran and Richard check out the ring!
After the ceremony we popped up to the helipad at Waikopu for a few more photos taking in the amazing view before Lance and I left for the evening…
Some of my favourite images from the wedding below… such a cute series of photos!
I just adore this photo of Fran.
Thanks so much Fran and Richard – your wedding was everything I had imagined and more… completely AWESOME!! xx
