Well it’s no secret at all that I LOOOOVE me a good elopement! Eloping to Waiheke Island is definitely one of the better ways to have a stress free wedding day with all the enjoyment of a romantic holiday on a beautiful island. An island which, by the way, was recently rated by Lonely Planet as the 5th Best Destination In. The. World. Not too shabby, Waiheke.
Combine a stress free elopement with a magical venue like Delamore Lodge on a beautiful spring day and you have an easy recipe for a spectacular wedding … without further ado let me introduce you to Den and Doug, all the way from the United Kingdom!
I loved Den’s dress, and flirty little lace number she brought over from the UK that suited her perfectly! Doug was decked out in Scottish splendor in a kilt with all the trimmings.
Den makes sure her man is looking ‘just so’.
Final reading of the vows before the ceremony begins (love the look on Den’s face here!!) 😀
Den and Doug’s wedding was officiated by local celebrant Rosemareyn van der Sluis who did a beautiful job of their simple and heartfelt ceremony.
Delamore Lodge… absolutely spectacular!
We spent a little bit of time photographing around Delamore Lodge before heading out to a couple of Waiheke locations that I thought would suit Den and Doug. Definitely one of the great things about elopements from a photographers perspective is the freedom to explore and spend a little bit more time indulging in the creative photography session without the time constraints I would normally have on a wedding day.
Keen walkers, who love nothing more than a good ramble, I thought a bit of native NZ bush would be a great start to our session.
Love this shot!!
Congrats Den and Doug! All the best for your beautiful future together… hope you enjoyed your fabulous weddingmoon in New Zealand! xx
